Terminology and definitions

Quality:

Fitness for purpose

Quality policy:

An organisation's intentions to improve and maintain high quality standards

 

Quality management:

The management team that determines and implements the quality policy

 

Quality control:

The activities used to ensure the quality policy is adhered to

 

Quality assurance:

The actions necessary to give confidence that the product or service will satisfy the quality requirements

 

Quality system:

The organisational structure, responsibilities, procedures and resources for implementing quality management

 

Quality review:

A review of a product to ensure it satisfies the quality requirements
