Constraints: The point of conflict

"Business managers... hold the view that internal software development needs to focus more on... the delivery of projects on time and to budget.

"So what views do IT managers hold about their opposite numbers in business management? Well, for a start, it's suggested that such managers primarily go wrong in just the sames areas - how deadlines and budgets are specified - all too often moving the goal posts at a critical phase in an IT project..."

Constraints

In achieving the project's objectives we have three major constraints

Time/cost/quality

Constraints

Question: In your opinion, which one is most likely to suffer?

Time and cost are easily monitored! Quality?

A project can be considere truly successful only if all three constraints are met and the products go on to meet the
customer's requirements
