Why is CPE necessary?

NB. On small systems, gut feel might be adequate. Larger systems are more difficult to guess correctly.


Definitions

sizing n. [Origin: size "to cut or otherwise shape (an article) to the required disposition"]
1. Obsolescent. The process whereby a system configuration is devised to meet the customer's various DP requirements.
2. In current usage. The process whereby a system configuration is devised to meet the customer's price ceiling.
3. Of bespoke software. Fixing the design with a weak glue mixture.
